PRESIDENT'S REMARKS - Leanne (for Jane)
Shelterbox. Next Tuesday 22nd April, Peter Jarvis will be coming to talk to our club about Shelter Boxes. He will be putting one up for us with the help of Rotarians so that we may see what they consist of. We will be doing a BBQ that evening. We need to arrive a bit earlier that our usual meeting. Please let me know if you are coming and if you are bringing a friend/partner for catering purposes.
Lesley has arranged for her Boomerang Bags to have a display at the Peppercorn Markets on 27th April at Samaritan College. The Bags now carry the Rotary Logo, and sales support The Rotary Foundation. Thank you to those who have filled the roster to provide Rotary Information at the stall. The Roster will be recirculated during the week.

GUEST SPEAKERS
Deb and Paula
'The Haven' - Women's Information Service
Paula has been the Coordinator of the Whyalla Haven since November 2023 and provided us with some background to the Women's Information Centre which commenced in Adelaide in 1985 and now operates a Havens statewide.
The Whyalla Haven is located in McRitchie Crescent and is a safe local place where women and people of marginalised genders can speak privately to trained volunteers who provide information, support and referrals to relevant services. The Whyalla Haven supports women and their children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence. This is a critical service provided to the community as nearly all women who present or contact them have no concept of where to turn at this very emotional and stressful time in their lives.
Paula explained that they cannot provide legal advice but offer emotional and practical support and work to eliminate and overcome the roadblocks to women wishing to leave a domestic violence situation.
Leanne presents the cheque to Deb and Paula to support the purchase of items for the Domestic Violence Support Bags provided recently.
