A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE A LIFE

R U OK? inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life.

You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener.

Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:

  1. Ask R U OK?
  2. Listen
  3. Encourage action
  4. Check-in

Speaker

This week our speaker is Rotarian Lesley Hartup - 'the person behind the badge'
Born Lesley Odell Bradley in Selly Oak Birmingham, on 13 October 1958, Lesley will be 65 on her next birthday.
She has two sisters, Annette, who lives in Brisbane, and Christine who lives in Sydney.  Her parents were ‘Ten-pound poms’ The family arrived in 1963 aboard the HMS Stratheden.  Mum and Dad decided to make Sydney their new home, however, they did briefly consider Adelaide.

What drives Lesley in Rotary, are her knitting projects, the boomerang bags, and the Nature Playgrounds.

Lesley brought some lovely albums 'The History of Us' and the family and school photos, She is grateful to be able to share where she has come from.

Lesley had a health scare with Breast Cancer two years ago and is now very heavily involved with the Whyalla Wellness Sisters. during her presentation, there were lots of opportunities for discussion.

As you will see from the photos below Lesley is a lucky lady.  The photograph of Lesley and her husband Andy is from when they went on a very special trip on the Ghan.  Then the photographs of her son and Daughter-in-law, the 'Har-poons' and the 'Russ-Tups, (For those who don't know Lesley's Daughter Nyssa is our President Mic's partner and they have two beautiful children, Bella and Vinnie - The Russ-Tups) Also in the collage is Perry giving the vote of thanks.
