CLUB HISTORY with Keith.

We looked back just over ten years to meeting 3074 on 15th April 2015 when Kerre Willsher was President and our Secretary was Mark Whitfield. District Governor was Doug Layng. We had 19 members and Chairman for the evening was Jane Owens.

  • President Kerre attended the ANZAC Day Dawn Service and laid a wreath on behalf of Rotary.
  • The annual Lions v Rotary Lawn Bowls Challenge was coming up in a couple of weeks. (Spoiler alert: We won that one!)
  • During the week we presented two Mental Health Scholarships in collaboration with the University. Winners were Ian Bishop and Bonny Scott.
Highlight of the night was the result of a challenge by the ladies that gents 'couldn't even bake a cake'. Well, the boys took up the challenge and didn't disappoint. Perry presented a cake that he had seen Nigella Lawson bake with a kilo of prunes, which he cut down for our later benefit. Glen baked a lemon cake covered with poppy seeds and Keith baked a Red Velvet Cake with cream cheese icing. Perry baked his first cake ever and Keith his first in 50 years. Just to be sure however and just in case the boys failed to deliver, Kerre and Joy also baked delicious cakes for us to enjoy.

Below is a picture from that meeting showing THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS and GIRLS and their cakes.
