GUEST SPEAKER
Ms. Madeline McGrath of NAPCAN
Australia's National Organisation for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.
Founded in 1987 and recognised as one of the country's leading organisations dedicated solely to preventing child abuse and neglect.

What NAPCAN Does

  • Leads National Child Protection Week NAPCAN coordinates this annual national campaign, encouraging all Australians to play a role in keeping children safe.

  • Promotes prevention through education and community engagement They run evidence‑based programs, training, and resources to help individuals, organisations, and communities understand how to prevent harm before it occurs.

  • Advocates for national policy change Their 2024–2026 strategy focuses on strengthening prevention advocacy, improving evaluation practices, and deepening community impact.

  • Supports youth participation Through NAPCAN Youth Speak Out, young people aged 13–25 contribute lived experience to national child protection and domestic/family violence discussions.

They are seeking to train up to 25 practitioners in our area. Both Lesley and Kerre are interested in doing the training.  They are aiming to eventually raise $100,000 and have around $35,000 at the moment.
