MEMBER'S HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
  • Keith reported that the Redlegs had won.
  • Leanne celebrated an 80th birthday (not her own)
  • Lesley attended Port Augusta for lunch. (What she did not make a fuss about was it was her birthday celebration…..Happy belated birthday Lesley!)
  • Greg advised he had been asked by his office to become a Justice of the Peace.
  • Perry reported the household had recovered from Influenza Type A.
  • B1 Nearly got to Bunnings but his lovely wife, Evelyn, didn’t feel like it.
  • B2 managed to save the life of both of his dogs, one had grass seeds in an ear and the other hurt itself, apparently jumping around. A trip to the vet fixed both.
  • Jennifer advised her mother celebrated her 66th birthday and a makeover had been arranged for her by Jennifer, as a treat.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.” .
THE BAD JOKES OF THE WEEK.

A priest, an Aman and a Rabbit entered the bar.
The Rabbit said “I think I am a typo”

A physics teacher, an engineer and an accountant are asked a simple question during a job interview: “what is two plus two?”
The engineer pulls out a slide rule, taps a few numbers and says with confidence “it’s approximately 3.99”
The physics teacher sets up a whiteboard, calculates friction and atmospheric pressure and announces “it’s between 3.98 and 4.02”
The accountant closes the door, leans in close and whispers “what do you want it to be?”
Some other stuff....

Following another win in the lucky squares by a Scottish member (this time B1), questions are being raised about legitimacy by the most unlucky player, Greg, who cant even win a rigged game of Bingo (more about this later.)

Lesley, very reasonably, reminded me that I need to spell her name correctly in the Bulletin. All I can say is, I am sorry, I will try to do better.

Keith rigs the lottery, I still don't win.
Rotarian Keith provided the entertainment for the evening, hosting a very brief quiz as a warm up, then arranging a game of Bingo. Unbeknown to his trusting members, Keith had rigged the game so that everyone won.....yet somehow I lost....everyone else won....either I missed a number or shenanigans are afoot.

SOMETHING I MISSED IN THE LAST BULLETIN

Our Prez, Kerre and Whyalla Norrie's Mel giving RVFR's John Spath
The turnout when RVFR visited Whyalla, to be welcomed by members of both the Whyalla and Whyalla Norrie club.

Rotarian Keith of the Whyalla club shared that on the 25th of September, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of the Eastern Zone Recreational Vehicle Fellowship of Rotarians (RVFR) — or as they like to say, Really Very Friendly Rotarians — to Whyalla.

This wonderful fellowship travels Australia in their RVs, exploring our great country together. Their current rolling muster began in Dubbo on 21 September, and after a long journey, they arrived in Whyalla yesterday. They’ll be with us until Sunday before heading to Cowell, then west to Ceduna, across the Nullarbor, and finally on to Perth for their National AGM in late November.

Together with the RC of Whyalla Norrie, we shared a hearty BBQ tea with them, followed by fruit salad, ice cream, and cake — perfect after a day on the road. Boss Drover John Spath introduced his group of 12–14 Rotarians and partners, and we swapped stories, shared a short history of our club, and exchanged club banners to mark the occasion.

They take part in at least half a dozen musters each year, but this one is by far their longest. It was a joy to host such a friendly and enthusiastic group.

Safe travels, RVFR — we hope to see you again down the track!
