Thought of the Week Doing charity work is like doing housework.
Nobody notices until you stop.
A Few Members Highlights
Leanne & Brian leave for their overseas holiday and wont be back until 30th Nov. Perry and Nata are heading for Singapore on a belated honeymoon. Brian Moodie recounted his recent trip to Elliston which went fine until he chipped the windscreen on his car and later stood on an ant's nest. Kerre is leaning to fly a Drone as part of her Surf Lifesaving training. Lesley has a new car.
.
President's Remarks - Jane Owens.
Rotary Foundation President Mark Maloney is visiting South Australia shortly and Jane is his appointed aide and guide.
Jane has investigated the cost of large, laminated menu posters for the MCU with Office Choice, Size AO is $45, A1 is $32 and A2 is $26.
Bedford Shed. We were successful in obtaining a District Grant of $5,000 which together with our $5,000 means the project is halfway there. Bedford are seeking funding from AURIZON to complete the project.
Guest Speaker
Danielle Camporeale - Membership
Danielle is a member of the Port Pirie Club and was the District Membership Chair for three years until the District structure was replaced by the Regionalisation Project.
Danielle posed us a few questions for self-examination, all of which prompted discussion.
What is the culture of the Club; is it welcoming?
Has your club changed with the times?
Are current members happy?
How well do you connect wirth social media?
Danielle also stressed the point that is important to know your community needs firsthand, and not assume. Also to make sure that every project gets the publicity it deserves.
Another important point is to choose the right event to bring along a potential new member. Involve them in something they have a passion for. Become a 'Salesperson' for Rotary and connect with their passions and reasons to join, for they join for their reasons, not ours.
This was a most refreshing and engaging presentation on an old topic.
The first Beach Road Beerfest kicked off last weekend and looks like becoming an annual event.
Jane, Mic and Kendra set up and kicked things off.
The German style menu.
