Local Government Election Information

Guest speaker for our meeting on 26 July was Justin Commons, Chief Executive Officer Whyalla, his presentation was about the Local Government Elections and the special importance of this election for Whyalla.

 

Whyalla is facing a very exciting time ahead with some Major Development Projects in the Pipeline, these developments gives the City the possibility to Imagine Whyalla as it could be over the next few years.

 

Justin explained the requirements for anyone who is thinking of nomination for Council, their responsibilities and requirements when elected.  He also covered some of the typical activities, Legislative Functions and other Discretionary Functions.

 

To allow the Reimagination of Whyalla and its surrounds, it is important to have a strong supportive Council so it is even more important with this election to ensure everyone who is eligible to vote does so.

 

Diversity of Background of Nominees is strongly encouraged as it is an important consideration but everyone, no matter who they are, is encouraged to nominate and work on Council for the better of the community.
