We just keep getting busier and busier

At our weekly dinner meeting we had the pleasure of listening to Richard Parker talk to us about the Children's University.  We will be following this up to find out how we can help.  Photographed is Rotarian Lesley presenting the vote of thanks

It was with great pleasure and to the delight of President Jane, to Present Scott Hubner with an Honorary Rotarian Certificate and Pin.  Scott is the epitome of an Honorary Rotarian; he is not a Rotarian but there is nothing he will not do to help us if he can.  We all thank you so much.

Steve Storic from Spencer Gulf Adventures was our speaker in the evening.  Steve is a wealth of information and has very kindly offered to take our club out in his glass bottom boat.  Also, from this meeting both the Rotary Club of Whyalla and the Rotary Club of Whyalla Norrie, now have students whom we will sponsor to do the Sailing Challenge on the Sailing Ship the One and All.  Pictured again is Rotarian Lesley presenting the vote of thanks to Steve

It was indeed interesting to have Paula and Bec from Centacare's Haven come and talk to us about the service they provide around Domestic Violence.  We also provided The Haven with a Cheque for $900 to provide much appreciated care packages.  Pictured is President Elect Leanne with Paula and Bec.

This was a particularly special day.  We had the privilege of having Peter Jarvis the ShelterBox Coordinator, bring the Rotary Ute to Whyalla and set it up in the Wetlands Mall (see this week's Whyalla News), this was a joint project with the Rotary Club of Whyalla Norrie.  That evening, Peter and some helpers from both clubs help him set up the tent.  The Rotary Club of Whyalla Norrie had already donated $1000 to the project and since the visit the Rotary Club of Whyalla has also donated $1000.  A very worthy cause indeed.
A job well done, I think we would have to say.  A huge thank you to Peter Jarvis who gives up his holidays to do this for Rotary.

Today we found ourselves at the Peppercorn Markets selling the Boomerang Bags.  This is a project of the Rotary Club of Whyalla, Rotarian Lesley has a wonderful band of helpers who make these bags.  We have also provided the local Library with some library bags.

Other Projects we have been involved in and given support to this month has included;
The Farmers of South Australia.  The Rotary Club of Whyalla has supported this project by donating $1000.  The information is in many tearooms around the city.  The Public now have the opportunity to donate.
Trevan Park: The Rotary Club of Whyalla would love to see this area become a Nature area.  To date we have, with the help of the City Council installed a yarning circle.  see the photograph below:
As you can see the Rotary Club is very busy in our community and in the world at large.  Every penny we raise goes back to the Community.  If you would like to become involved, please do not hesitate to give us a call - our details are on our webpage and our FaceBook Page.
