At the University of South Australia, UniSA Connect will provide an immersive STEM learning program to find a solution to a big question proposed to them. Students will work as scientists developing their own investigation into passive solar housing and design and construct water filtrations systems through immersive learning activities. They will also learn how technology such as electronics and GPS systems can be applied to improve living conditions in developing countries. At the conclusion of the program, students will communicate their learning presentations. The underlying emphasis is to encourage STEM careers and to build peer networks with like-minded STEM students. Where Science has fun!

She has presented papers on South Australian Tourism and Resource-based Learning to teaching students in China. Having used the services of the RAA since she was sixteen she is happy to talk about their wonderful service to the South Australian Motoring Community to make up for all the times her old Mini broke down in early teaching days.
RAA works withThe SA community, schools, and other like-minded organisations to deliver a range of education programs that aim to improve road safety in our state. What is polio?Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system. Our goalRotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever. As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we've reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.

Area of Focus for December 2021 Disease Prevention and Treatment Month We believe good health care is everyone’s right. Yet 400 million people in the world can’t afford or don’t Disease results in misery, pain, and poverty for millions of people worldwide. That’s why treating and preventing disease is so important to us. We lead efforts both large and small. We set up temporary clinics, blood donation centers, and training facilities in underserved communities struggling with outbreaks and health care access. We design and build infrastructure that allows doctors, patients, and governments to work together. Our members combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio. Prevention is important, which is why we also focus on health education and bringing people routine hearing, vision, and dental care. https://www.rotary.org/en/our-causes/fighting-disease

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: First The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; Second High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; Third The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life; Fourth The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
THE CONCEPT OF VOCATIONAL SERVICE The Object of Rotary (see previous page) is a philosophical statement of Rotary’s purpose and the responsibilities of Rotarians. The concept of vocational service is rooted in the second object, which calls on Rotarians to encourage and foster: • High ethical standards in business and professions • The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations • The dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society As a Rotarian, how can you put these ideals into action? Consider these suggestions: • Talk about your profession in your club, and take time to learn about fellow members’ occupations. • Use your skills and expertise to serve a community. • Practice your profession with integrity and inspire others to behave ethically through your words and actions. • Help young people achieve their career goals. • Guide and encourage others in their professional development. By undertaking these activities, you bring vocational service to life. Vocational service is the essence of Rotary and serves as the foundation from which we serve our communities around the world
