Mental Health Award
Apr 13, 2021 7:15 PM
Cassandra is the recipient of the Rotary Club of Whyalla Mental Health Award Tonight our speaker was Cassandra Ward. Cassandra is the last recipient of the Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health, RC of Whyalla award. Cassandra gave us a wonderful insight into her background, being born and brought up in Whyalla. She is currently working with Centacare as a Senior Social Worker, working in the Schools as a counselor. Working with children who are disengaged from school. Cassandra also provides training in the Mental Health First Aid Course in the 12 to 25-year-olds. Cassandra was asked many questions and was able to answer them with ease and poise. When Michele gave the vote of thanks she put it quite fittingly when she told Cassandra how impressed we all were with her knowledge and commitment to Mental Health. Cassandra is a truly worthy recipient of our award.

At the University of South Australia, UniSA Connect will provide an immersive STEM learning program to find a solution to a big question proposed to them. Students will work as scientists developing their own investigation into passive solar housing and design and construct water filtrations systems through immersive learning activities. They will also learn how technology such as electronics and GPS systems can be applied to improve living conditions in developing countries. At the conclusion of the program, students will communicate their learning presentations. The underlying emphasis is to encourage STEM careers and to build peer networks with like-minded STEM students. Where Science has fun!
